St. Michael principal is veteran educator

Pauline DeCann Pauline DeCann will be principal of St. Michael School for the 2006-07 school year.

DeCann has been a teacher at St. Michael School in Newark for 25 years. Her background includes a Bachelor's of Science from SUNY Geneseo followed by a Master's Degree from Nazareth.

She is a member of the Newark community as well as a part of St. Michael's parish. She has a wide range of experience with an emphasis in the junior high levels.

She taught fourth grade, then family and children presented a hiatus, followed by a return to grades 5 and 6 ELA, reading and religion, as well as religion for grades seven and eight. Her contributions continued with assisting Kay Oosterling in the music program for the children's monthly First Friday Mass, as well as coordinating the readings and helping with the planning of these Masses.

St. Michael School, Newark serves more than 10 parishes in the Wayne and Ontario counties and remains a part of the Diocese of Rochester. St. Michael School provides an inclusive warm and welcoming environment rich in a tradition of Christian character development.
