Happenings Happy Birthday to Zoe Bovet on December 12, at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. She would love to hear from her friends. I can't believe it ! We don't have all our Christmas decorations up yet, and someone has cut the electric wires to our little evergreen trees! We are happy to know that Aunt Alice Flass is back home after recuperation. The roast beef supper is taking place this evening, Dec. 8, at the Legion Home on Witherden Road. It's beginning to look like Christmas in downtown Marion. At the Holiday Open House at the Museum, guests were offered steaming cups of Mom's Celery Soup, accompanied by Cheese Biscuits. The tape player was playing, 'A Cup of Christmas Tea,' which has the tender message important to hear again and again. Shown for the first time, was a collection of lovely, old buttons sent to us by Alma Huber from Aiken, South Carolina. She acquired them while living in this area and wanted to return them to their rightful place, Marion. While decorating the Heritage Room, with the 'Partridge In A Pear Tree' theme, I was surprised to find that my partridge was moulting! I patched him the best I could, gluing some feathers and an eye just in time before guests started to arrive. In the anteroom the collection titled, 'Honoring Grandparents' was displayed and viewed. Another basket holding Osage oranges was placed on the table near the door. We discussed information on these mock oranges and all the places where they may be found. Just something we always do around Christmas time! Early Marion - Dec. 16, 1920 - Girl Scouts will hold a Christmas Fair in the Grange Hall on Saturday - Baked goods, toys, candy and handkerchiefs will be sold. 'Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words.' - George Eliot A topic being discussed is the number of break-ins and thefts happening in Marion. Community Christmas Program
The money collected goes for food certificates to needy families during the holidays. Your donation may be made at tables set up in the lobby as you enter and leave the concerts. This program is a total community effort with community members, clergy and school personnel planning the program and distributing the gifts. Thank you for sharing and caring for our needy families.
