Oh, my gosh it snowed. We went from almost 70 to the 30s and snow. Of course we had to have our day and night of high winds and electricity outages before we got there.

The other day I chatted with Ralph Everdyke online and he said it was going to be in the 80s in Florida. Who knows? Maybe when I get to be Ralph's age I will be writing to someone up here telling them how warm it's going to be in my world.

Back to reality...it is cold out there!

The Wallington Fire Department & Sodus Chamber of Commerce will have Christmas Fireworks on December 17. The fireworks show will last approximately 20 minutes regardless of weather conditions. Watching fireworks with the snow coming down is a wonderful sensation. This display rivals the Sodus Point July 4th. Display put on by Young Explosives.

Head to the Wallington Fire Department on Old Ridge Road (North of 104, just outside of Sodus). The Fire Hall will be open from 5 to 7 for all contributors (donations accepted during event) with hot dogs, chili and refreshments.

Fun from the Sodus Free Library:

Get Out The Popcorn! Starting next Thursday, December 14, all videos and DVDs will check out for one week, with one renewal allowed. Along with several other OWWL libraries, we are standardizing our loan periods to better serve you. So get out the popcorn and pop down to the Library next Thursday!

Saturday, December 9: Noon to 4 is Winter Wonderland at the Point.

Cracker Box Palace & Alasa Academy's BarnWarming & Christmas Light Festival at the Farm each weekend complete with hot cocoa, eggnog & Xmas treats. Call 483.2493 for details.

Begin a holiday tradition of baking cookies with the family. In the stores, there are tiny cookie cutters so you can give the children their own dough and cutters to be creative with . My kids used to get so covered with flour, even when they had a smock or apron on. I can remember just picking them and lifting them to the porch to brush them off.

Remember, don't save all of the Christmas wrapping 'til the day before. It's too stressful. Wrap them a few at a time. Whether you need help or not, the kids love to help wrap and it's a good way for them to learn if you have the patience. Pop some air popped corn for the kids to string for the tree and turn on a Christmas show to watch while you work. Christmas is a fun time of year but you have to try to keep the stress out of it.

You can pick up some $l holiday cards for the kids to make out while you do yours. Christmas coloring time is fun as well. Turn on the Christmas carols and spend a few hours coloring together. Making memories the kids will remember and share with their own children. Everything will get done whether you stress out or just enjoy it.
