Paul GoodrellFlasher found Monday evening in Newark
By John Zornow

A report by Newark Middle School staff Monday afternoon sent area police agencies on a two-hour manhunt.

Newark Police, Wayne County Sheriff's Department, and NYS Police were notified that a man dressed in black was seen running through the hallways of the Newark Middle School, wearing no pants.

Paul Goodrell, reportedly of 36 Camelot Court in Canandaigua, was apprehended in the woods just south of Woodlane, around 7:06 p.m. by a team of officers accompanied by K-9 patrol.

The Newark Fire Department's thermo-imaging camera was used in an effort to find the suspect, who was later identified by an eyewitness.

Goodrell, who says he suffers from paraphilia, was arraigned before Lyons Justice Forgione. Goodrell is charged with public lewdness, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree criminal trespass, and exposure of person. He was sent to Wayne County jail without bail.

He will be arraigned in Newark court tomorrow, to answer the misdemeanor charges. Newark Police were contacted by other police agencies which have had similar incidents.
