Could this time of year get any busier? Baking cookies, shopping, picking up the kids from college. Gotta get the cards done, where are those stamps?! But first, I think we have to get up in the morning, take a deep breath, and take a yoga class. It's hard to stay calm when there is so much to do and we feel everything has to be perfect. That is a tall order to fill. Things do not have to be perfect at all. We stress over how perfect or beautiful our packages look. How many people even really notice? Most people just rip right through the paper to the important part. We have to set our priorities and make lots of lists, then get many magnets to hold all of the lists onto the refrigerator. Everything will be fine. Relax.

There are lots of fun things to take our minds off all the hectic running around, others are trying to help us enjoy the season and chill out so to speak.

You can catch the Holiday Bake Sale at Sodus Free Library today from 10 to 5. Stop by the Library to pick up homemade breads, cookies, and muffins, wrapped and ready to give as gifts, or as a treat for your family. If you're exhausted from all the holiday chaos, relax for a few minutes at the Koffee Korner; we'll be serving individual baked goods along with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

library kids Saturday, December 16, from 10 to 3 is a Cookie Sale at Sodus Point United Methodist Church, Ontario Street, Sodus Point. Cookies are $3 a dozen. To benefit January 2007 Volunteers in Mission rebuilding Mississippi trip.

The combined choirs of the Sodus Point and Sodus Methodist churches will present the cantata entitled 'Ceremony of Candles' by Joseph Martin on two Sundays. The last performance is this Sunday, December 17 at 9 a.m. at the Sodus Point Methodist Church, Ontario Street. Over 30 choir members under the direction of Jean Baker and accompanied by Donna Meneely on the piano will present the Christmas message of Hope.

Also Sunday, December 17 are the Community Fireworks in Wallington. The fireworks show will last approximately 20 minutes regardless of weather conditions.

They all sound like fun things to do , so try to do a couple of them if you can. Don't forget the seasonal fun at Alasa Farms, too.

From the Sodus Library:

'The Mommies on the bus go 'Shh, shh, shh,' all around the town!' Four singers have fun with 'The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round' while our new 'Storyhour Lady,' Jan Koch (pronounced 'Cook') accompanies them on her guitar. There's room for more, so bring your preschoolers to the Library at 10:30 a.m. every Monday.

Thanks to these members of Sodus Central's Homework Club, our 'Charlie Brown Christmas Tree' is up in the children's room, and it looks great!

poinsettia's What a nice job they did , good to see kids getting involved.

December 18 - Preschool Story Hour, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Closed December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1.

So get your books for the kids' winter break and Christmas vacation ahead of time.

So, now you have lots of fun things to do. Your lists are made and there is something to do every day. You can pace yourself and enjoy the season. Everyone should be encouraged to do their share whether it's helping with the tree or wrapping presents and just think of what a nice way to spend quality time that is. Have fun doing things together and gently make sure everyone knows you can help them but they have to take care of their seasonal things themselves just like you take care of your responsibilities. Then everyone, including you, can get through with less stress and more time so you aren't sitting in the chair the day after Christmas wondering what happened.
