New Year's Eve at Newark Grange Newark Grange will host a New Year's Eve potluck supper and games beginning at 6:30. Allan and Fannie Mallette will be in charge of the supper. All are welcome to attend; please bring table service, a dish to pass for supper, and a snack to share for the games. A euchre tournament will be held for those who enjoy playing euchre. Other card games will be played if enough are interested. Scrabble and puzzles are other popular activities for the night. Coffee, tea, and milk will be provided by the Grange, or bring two-liter bottles of soda to share. Next meeting will be January 5. Since Master Allan Mallette will be absent, Overseer Cecil Decker will have charge of the meeting. Dues for the year need to be paid. Newark Grange met December 15. Members brought cookies that were added to seven food baskets for less privileged families. Hazel and Stan Herdman, Becky Waterman, Allan Mallette, Brad Datthyn and Chris Davis spent time Dec. 16 ringing the bells for the Salvation Army in front of Wal-Mart. Many people donated money. It is really nice to hear the parents comments with kids, telling them to always donate to this wonderful cause. One young person dumped his entire change bottle in the red bucket. Lecturer Suzanne Erway introduced Al Dobbin and his daughter Sue Ellen Johansson for a few stories and songs. Al is a great all around entertainer telling us stories and singing songs while playing his guitar. He also played the harmonica. Sue Ellen, also playing a guitar, harmonized with her father.
