Nursing Home starts Garden Club

The Wayne County Nursing Home Garden Club met for the first time in late January.

Nineteen volunteers discussed the many opportunities to involve the community in a partnership with the nursing home to build, plant and tend garden spaces around the new facility. Projects were proposed that would enhance out door areas to be enjoyed by residents, family, staff of the nursing home and community residents.

The purpose of the WCNH Garden Club is to present the opportunities to organizations such as other garden clubs, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, youth groups, school districts, church groups, civic groups, American Legion, VFW, AVSO, Elks, Fire Departments, etc.

The nursing home thanks all the community organizations and individuals who continue in their dedication to assist in the mission of enhancing the lives of the residents.

The garden club will meet February 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Anyone interested in joining or taking a tour of the nursing home may call or e-mail Susan V. VanLare, Volunteer Coordinator, 946.5673.
