Rabies clinic today in Newark

Wayne County Public Health in cooperation with Lyons Veterinary Clinic and the Village of Newark is hosting a Winter Rabies Clinic for pets.

Clinic will be TODAY (Feb. 11) from 1-3 p.m. at Village of Newark, DPW, 100 Wood Lane, just off Grace Avenue.

All cats, dogs, and ferrets, four months or older, are required by law to be vaccinated against rabies. Pet owners who harbor unvaccinated pets are risking exposure to this potentially fatal disease as well as facing legal penalties and substantial fines.

Pet vaccination for rabies is an inexpensive simple way to protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and your pet against this deadly disease. All dogs must be leashed and cats/ferrets securely confined in a carrier to prevent injuries and escapes. A $5 donation is requested to help defray costs, but no pet will be denied vaccination due to the inability to donate.

The goal is to protect the community by vaccinating as many pets as possible.
