Happenings
By Carolyn Adriaansen (926.4436)

January 31, the Marion MasterMinds traveled to Lyons. The varsity team went 2-0 with Craig Butler and Cora Walker as high scorers for the team. Varsity continues to dominate as the first place team.

Congratulations to the Wayne County Basketball Player of the Week, Jon Brooks ...who scored 15 points vs. Sodus and 11 points vs. Clyde-Savannah.

Warren Bushart, cafeteria manager at Gananda, distributing reuzel bollen to the fourth graders, as part of 'Dutch Foods Day.' (Pick up a print issue to see a photo.)

Daffodils will be arriving around March 20, spreading the message from the American Cancer Society. We'll be ordering bunches of 10 cut daffodils which are still only $10. And the popular potted flowers at $10. Call me at 926.4436 to order your 'Gift of Hope.'

England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a 'bone-house' and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the 'graveyard shift') to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be 'saved by the bell' or was considered a 'dead ringer.'

There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.

Feb. 20-24: No School - Presidents Week.
