Curves collecting food next week

The Newark Curves Food Drive runs from February 27-March 11.

Curves announced that the 2005 Curves Food Drive brought in 3200 pounds of food. The drive accounted for more than 30 new memberships at the Newark Curves. Food was donated to the Newark Food Closet, Emmanuel United Methodist Church, and Rose Garden Apartments.

Across North America and Canada, Curves members donated more than 10.3 million pounds of food, while international club participation brought the total close to 11 million pounds.

This was Curves' seventh Food Drive and Newark's third time to participate. Newark Curves is located on Harrison Street.

Every year in March, women have the opportunity to donate groceries in lieu of paying the Curves membership fee. Thousands of women take advantage of this opportunity to help themselves become healthier while contributing to the needs of their community's less fortunate residents.

Curves offers a 30-minute workout that combines strength training and sustained cardiovascular activity through safe and effective hydraulic resistance. Curves also offers a weight management program.
