Hoffman elected Chair
By Donna Comella
Jim Hoffman and Sandy SLoane

Pictured is Williamson Supervisor Jim Hoffman with Clerk of the County Board of Supervisors, Sandy Sloane. Hoffman was unanimously elected to chair the Wayne County Board of 15 town supervisors who, together, govern the County. Following this morning's election, Hoffman was escorted to the Chamber bench by Savannah Supervisor Don Colvin and Arcadia's Joe DeSanto. His first official act? A ten-minute adjournment.

Hoffman replaces Wolcott's Marv Decker, who chaired the board for 24 years. Decker was defeated in November's election by former County Administrator Kim Park.

Four other supervisors are new faces. They include Steve LeRoy (Sodus), Lucinda Collier (Rose), Robert Plant (Walworth) and John Young (Huron). Only Collier ran unopposed when Carm Pascarella decided not to run. The others defeated long-time incumbents Donna Chittenden, Frank Guelli and two-year incumbent Chuck Frederick.

New Committees will meet as early as tomorrow, with Marion Supervisor Jody Bender at the helm of the Public Safety Committee. The Social Services Committee will be headed by Plant and Public Health by Park. Other committees will meet Thursday, Friday and in the coming week. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the full board will be Tuesday, January 17 at 9 a.m.
