Classic comedies at Lyons Library Hoping to repeat the success of last year's Hitchcock film series, the Lyons Public Library will be hosting a series of classic comedies, featuring both silent and sound films. The first showing is Saturday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. featuring the comedy talents of Harold Lloyd. He created the legendary Glass Character whose one trademark was lens-less horn-rimmed glasses. More commonly known as 'the Boy,' this character was the everyman that anyone could relate to regardless of whether a person was rich or poor, cowardly or flip. In the two short silent films that will be shown, Lloyd starred with Mildred Davis, his real life sweetheart and future wife. A short discussion about the films will follow. Hot chocolate and popcorn will be served as part of the showing. This program is free and open to the public. For details, call 946.9262. Copyright
