Marion folks plan historic projects
stain glass window

The recent Marion Historic Association meeting, held in the Municipal Building, was attended by folks interested in Marion history and the association's projects.

Plans are in the works for creating signs designating outlying Marion cemeteries. These will be designed and made by Steve Schutt of  'The Main Street Sign & Stripe.'

As soon as the contact on the Marion Town Board contacts the association, and volunteers come forward, there are many individual projects that can be worked on at 'Jennie's House.' Gordon Van Hall has taken on the research of the missing fireplace column.

The country kitchen is the next room to be cleaned and settled with aquisitions, stripping of the cupboards and the addition of exhibits will be a big project.

Estimates on the necessary re-wiring of this historic home are coming in.

Shelving needs to be moved from the storage area in the basement of the Marion Town Hall. Then files can be arranged in the upstairs storage area at the future home.

The missing stained glass window is being duplicated with Gallery Glass. This will be a reminder of the panel that once occupied the north wall in the front hall stairway.

Historic Association members include: Jay and Carol Ramsey, Gerald and Yvonne Ameele, Dennis DeGroot, Eleanor Schoonerman, Wendy and Steve Cook, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Stevens, Alice M. Flass, Norma Ameele, Nancy Neveliver, Robert and Janet DeRidder, Clara DeNearing, Arthur and Shirley Stone, Penny Shaw, Nancy and Gordon VanHall, Dr. Elbis Shoales, Doris Van Hall, Barb Cramer, Bill and Barb DeWandel, Douglas and Celia Topping.

Please, let us know your ideas for our 'museum-to-be' and when and if you would be available to be on the committee. Call Carolyn at 926.4436.
