Red Cross blood drives

American Red Cross Wayne County Blood Drives for July:

• 7/7 Fri. 1-6 at Wayne Health & Fitness 175 Westshore Blvd., Newark
• 7/7 Fri. 1-6 Williamson Fire Department 6286 Lake Ave., Williamson
• 7/11 Tue. 2-7 Lyons VFW
• 7/12 Wed. 10-3:30 Via Health of Wayne County Driving Park Ave., Newark
• 7/24 Mon. 2-7 Walworth Baptist Community Center 3697 Main St., Walworth
• 7/27 Thurs. 1:30-6:30 St. Michael's Church, 401 S. Main St., Newark

If you are between 16 & 65, weigh at least 110 lbs and are in good health, plan to donate at one of the drives listed above.

There is a particularly urgent need for blood donors with type O-Negative blood to prevent rationing of these units over the holiday weekend.

There is currently only a 1 -day supply of Type O blood, short of the desired 5 7 day supply.

There is concern because the holiday falls on a Tuesday, making an even longer weekend for many which can result in low blood collections for an extended period.

Blood drives are scheduled throughout the week and over the long holiday weekend, including July 4th itself, in many communities.
