Go to Sodus Point to swim, cool off

For those who are looking for the perfect place to be on a hot, humid, muggy day here in upstate New York, you need look no further than right here in your backyard - Sodus Point Park.

Lifeguard supervised swimming began June 27 and continues for 10 weeks until Labor Day, September 4. Red Cross certified lifeguards are on the job 11 to 7 every day of the week to ensure a safe and fun day-at-the-beach experience.

At Sodus Point Park on July 11, 12, and 13, healthy choices programming for youth ages 5-12 in Wayne County recreation and youth programs is planned. Twice on each of these days during the hours of 10 to Noon and then 1 to 3, Fun-in-the-Sun activities will take place ranging from crafts to beach games, and of course, swimming.

The theme this year is 'Moovelous' Fun-in-the-Sun with activities centered on milk, dairy farms, and cows. Attendance at this activity requires participation in a Wayne County recreation or youth program. If you know a youth interested in attending, call Susan at the Aging and Youth office (946.5624) to see if your town or village program has Fun-in-the-Sun in their summer schedule.

Swimming and Fun-in-the-Sun at Sodus Point Park are sponsored and funded by Wayne County and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
