Newark Library wins $24,400 grant The Newark Public Library was awarded $24,400 for its Parent and Child Library Services grant proposal, titled H.E.L.P. - Healthy Enrichment Learning Program. This grant will allow the library to offer a new creative program for children, pre-K to third grade, and their parents. The focus will be on enhancing reading and literacy skills along with teaching the basic knowledge of nutrition, physical activity and what is needed to live a healthy lifestyle. This two-year grant will provide the library, Kelley School, Lincoln School, Perkins School, St. Michael School, Candy Apple Children's Center, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Newark Head Start with 20 health-lifestyle learning kits filled with books, videos, an activity folder, hands-on items, and a couple of Spanish tote bags.
