Newark walk raises $4896 to fight hunger The Mabel Hommer Memorial/Newark CROP Walk raised $4896.11. CROP Walks partner with Church World Service and local agencies to feed the hungry. Several businesses donated to the walk: Arcadia Sports & Awards, Bee Tee's Drive In, Boynton's Jewelers, Burger King, Doug Kent's Rose Bowl Lanes, Dunkin' Donuts, Eckerd Drugs, Elaine's Hair Garage, Flowers Unlimited, Goebert Automotive Supply, The Hairport, Hymn & Her Photo Gallery & Frame Shop, Joey's Northside Grocery, Kleen Kar Auto Wash, Mark's Pizza, Mason's Barber Shop, McDonald's, Newark Family Diner, Newark Village Pharmacy, P&C Grocery, Parker Nursery, Pontillo's Pizza & Homesweet Cheesecake, Sal's Ice Cream, Seasonall Auto Repair in Newark, Showplace 6, Stotts Drycleaners, Subway, Tom Wahls, Wal*Mart, Wegmans, Wendy's and WhataWash. Churches and businesses recruited 51 walkers and sponsors for this fundraiser: Angel Heart Chapel, Emmanuel United Methodist Church, The Hairport, Fairville Presbyterian, First United Methodist Church, Newark Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Park Presbyterian, Redeemer Lutheran, St. Mark's, and Woodlane Community. There were also individual donations collected on the day of the walk. Special kudos to: Home Meal Service, Inc. for the rest stop; the Kelley School, Perkins School and the Emmanuel Church for restroom facilities; Jackie & Lindy for safety checks; Darlene, Sue, and Mary for registration; the First United Methodist Church for meeting space; Park Presbyterian Church for our headquarters and the recruiters for their time and extra effort.
