Humane Society gets grant The Humane Society of Wayne County received a $5,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to increase the number of spay and neuters of animals that are adopted from the Shelter. The Humane Society of Wayne County successfully alters more than 200 animals per year, prior to adoption, which helps to fight the area's dire pet over-population problem. 'We are excited to increase the total number of spay/neuters and help the animals become more adoptable,' said Mark Plyter, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Wayne County. 'We hope to increase the number of animals altered prior to adoption by 100 this year.' PetSmart Charities, Inc.
