Newark Police make drug arrest
The arrest was pursuant to a warrant issued by Village Justice Daniel Barrett based on a Wayne Net Investigation. Hobbs had been released awaiting further action on pending drug charges from a May 26 raid at his former residence, 407 East Union Street, Newark. Police said Hobbs taunted police officers, saying he hadn't been slowed down by the previous arrest. This time, Hobbs is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance based on sales to Wayne NET Operatives. Hobbs was arraigned before Justice Barrett and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000/$100,000. He additionally was charged with one count of unlawful possession of marijuana for having a quantity of it in his possession at the time of his arrest. Newark Chief Bogan said, 'This case will be a good example of the results we can expect from the partnership of local police agencies and the District Attorney. It is expected that this partnership, as represented in the Impact Grant from New York State, will streamline prosecution of these defendants identified as being a threat to the community.'
