Missing Sodus Hopefully everyone got through the heat wave ok without dehydration or horrible sunburns. Now the temperatures in the 80's feel mild. A couple of fun 'keep the kids cool' idea from brightideas.com for the next time the kids get hot or just want something fun to do. Beat the heat with a fun game of Drip, Drip, Splash! Just like Duck, Duck, Goose, kids sit in a circle while one kid walks around with a large cup of water, dripping a little bit on everyone's head. When they decide to 'tag' someone, they empty the whole cup of water onto one of the kid's head and yell 'splash!' It's a great way to cool off on a hot summer day! or... Fill six small balloons with water. Divide the guests into two groups and have them make a straight line. Give each team one balloon at a time, but before handing it to them, prick the balloons with a pin. The teams that can get the balloons to the end of the line with the most water left in the balloon wins It's going to be another fun and busy weekend. The Olde Thyme Country Faire is finally here this weekend in Sodus and Sodus Point. The weekend will start off tonight at 7 with the popular Pet Parade, hosted by the Cracker Box Palace. Anyone can join in the parade - young or old, and with any kind of pet - from kitty cats, to horses, to gold fish or that favorite stuffed teddy bear. Immediately following the parade, the free street dance will start and will feature local bands and music for all to enjoy courtesy of Culligan Tri County Water. The Ladies from the Sodus WCTA Credit Union will again put on a dance 'exhibition' for the crowd. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold by the Sodus Central Golf Team and the Chamber will again be organizing the Ice Cream Social. The public is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy an evening in the Sodus Village Park. If you need your car washed, The Bible Baptist Church of Sodus will be doing a free car wash, (no donations will be accepted) on Saturday, July 22 from 10 to 2 at the Sodus Point Fire Department. Sunday, the Sodus Point Lighthouse Museum & Ice Cream Social will feature Music Makers Big Band. Concert begins at 2. Bring a chair or blanket. Ice cream sundaes of your own design. A cute recipe from Brightideas.com Splish Splash Cake
1 bag SNICKERS Brand MINIS Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour the tube cake pan. Roughly chop up 2 cups SNICKERS Brand MINIS. Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions for pound cake, including one package of instant pudding. Pour the batter into the prepared tube cake pan and sprinkle the chopped SNICKERS Brand MINIS over the top. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven, transfer to a wire rack and let cool for 15 minutes. Invert, remove pan and let cool completely. Spoon 1/2 cup of the vanilla frosting into a resealable plastic bag with a small corner snipped and set aside. Divide the remaining frosting equally into 5 separate cups and tint each one a color. Spoon each color into a separate resealable plastic bag with a small corner snipped. Place the cake on a serving platter. Using the photograph on the site as a guide divide the cake into 5 sections and frost each section one solid color. Pipe a vanilla frosting line between the colors and cover the line with M&M'S Brand Milk Chocolate Candies. Spread ground vanilla wafers around the tube, both inside and outside the ring.
