Gas Engine Show coming to Marion
steam engine

The Pioneer Gas Engine Association will be holding its Reunion Show July 28 and 29. The show is at Marion Town Park, on Main Street. Just follow the signs.

It includes displays and demonstrations of antique gas engines, tractors, steam engines, farm equipment, a blacksmith, stone crushing, Dynometer, parades, and a flea market.

The antique tractor pulls are Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 5 and a 'dead weight' pull on Saturday at 11 a.m. All participants must have stock equipment 1956 or older, and have a 2006 membership.

The children's pedal tractor pull is held on Saturday at 11. For more info, call the Salernos at 589.7229.

Admission is a donation of $2 per person, with children under 12 free or a 2006 membership. Memberships are $4 for a single membership (over the age of 16), or $6 for a family. All displayers need to have current membership.

Pioneer Gas Engine is a non-profit organization formed by Harry Schoff of Honeoye Falls in 1962. Its purpose was the preservation of antique gas engines, tractors, and the farm and allied equipment that was deteriorating or being sacrificed to scrap yards. From a handful of members at the beginning, the association has now grown to over 200 members. The show originated in Honeoye Falls then was held in Fairville, before moving to the Marion Park in 1991.

Officers include President Chris Salerno, Marion; VP Wade Kniffin of Penn Yan; Treasurer Richard Vanderbrook, Marion; Secretaries Danielle Salerno and Becky Luckman, Marion; Directors are Dana Luckman, Tom Weis, Josh Weis, Dick Simmons, Neil LeClair, Terry Salerno (all from Marion); Lee MacLaren, Newark; Jim Muyle, Palmyra; and Gary Love, Canandaigua.
