Humane Society open house tomorrow The Humane Society of Wayne County is holding its Open House on Sunday, June 4. Join the fun at the shelter located at 1475 County House Road in Lyons right next door to the highway department barn, from noon to 4. This will be a fun-filled afternoon of food, games, family fun, and humane education. Burnham's Red Rooster of Newark will serving up its delicious chicken barbecue for $7. There will be door prizes, raffles, and silent auction baskets. Presentations Under the Big Top include: from 1-1:30 p.m.- Public Health presents information on Rabies and West Nile Virus with Lynn Crane, Wayne County Public Health. Ms. Crane is a wildlife rehabilitator and an animal control officer for the town of Savannah. 1:30 to 2 - Gary Rose and Bob Howard present Local Laws Pertaining to Companion Animals. Gary Rose is an Animal Control Officer and Cruelty Investigator for Wayne County with over 17 years of experience in dealing with Wayne County's strays. Bob Howard is an Animal Control Officer for the town of Arcadia and Village of Newark as well as a Wayne County Cruelty Investigator. 2 to 2:30 - Bob Minchella presents Dog Behavior. Minchella is the local expert when it comes to dog behavior. He hosts a number of training classes annually and has well over 25 years experience in dog training and behavior. This is one of the very few dog behaviorists who will deal with aggressive behavior. 2:30 to 3 - District Atty. Rick Healy presents 'prosecuting animal cruelty cases.' Healy has been a prosecutor for 26 years and the elected District Attorney for the past 16 years. He is known for his aggressive position regarding animal cruelty.
