Lyons Elks plan ceremonies

Lyons Elks Lodge #869 will conduct the Annual Flag Day Ceremony on Wednesday evening, June 14 at 7 p.m.

Exalted Ruler Mark T. Wunder, together with other Lodge Officers, will lead the ceremony. Local girl and Boy Scout troops will also participate in the ceremony along with the music talents of the Lyons High School.

This year, Amy Zeller, the selected winner for the Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the Elks, will be the guest speaker. Zeller is a student in the Marion Central School system.

The public is cordially invited to attend and observe the annual recognition for our country's flag.

Also, the Lyons VFW and American Legion will conduct a Flag Retirement/Burning Ceremony. If you have any old flags that you would like to have properly disposed of please bring them to this ceremony.

In the event of inclement weather, the Flag Retirement/ Burning portion of the ceremony/celebration will not be able to be performed, but the Flag Day Ceremony will be held at 7 at the Lyons Elks Lodge immediately across the street.
