Happenings I found out why I can't find any Muscat raisins for my raisin pie. They are not growing Muscat grapes any more! Katie Wilder, a 2004 Marion graduate, made the Dean's List at Fredonia State for spring semester. Katie is majoring in Psychology with a Sociology minor. She is the daughter of Vern and Sharon (Wilder) Engle. A copy of the 1902 Sears, Roebuck catalog has been added to our outhouse presentation files. This will be shown on June 14, when there will be a presentation on Sears, Roebuck homes at the Marion Municipal Building at 7 p.m. Perhaps you lived in one of these homes and can add some information to our museum files. Another interesting book has been added to our Museum's Library titled, 'Going to Grandma's House.' Lovely nostalgic stories that tell us about day's past. Thanks go to Judy Schoonmaker for her gift of articles and souvenirs that were given to the Marion Museum. They are an important addition. JUNE 2, 1939: The Wayne County Spelling Contest will be held in Palmyra, Saturday afternoon. Marion school will be represented by Alvin Ruple. Contestants will vie for the trophy given by Bloomer Bros. Co. of Newark. In the centuries before the invention of window screens, a particular shade of blue, called 'fly blue' was painted on walls because it was believed to keep flies out of the room. George Reiss has returned home following surgery at Rochester General Hospital.
