Understanding English tomorrow in Lyons

'It Ain't English: Why We Say What We Say, and How It Got That Way,' will be held June 20 at noon and 7 p.m.

Lecturer/researcher Victor Harris will continue his examination of the evolution of the English language by examining Education of Little Tree, by Forrest Carter.

Forrest Carter, a virulent segregationist, former Klansman, speechwriter for George Wallace and professional racist is more widely known as the bestselling author of 'The Education of Little Tree,' a literary phenomenon that was published in 1976 and made Carter a pillar of New Age wisdom and a multicultural hero.

'The Education of Little Tree,' a book about an orphaned eight-year-old boy named Forrest who learns about life from his Cherokee grandparents in eastern Tennessee, has never been out of print since it was first published in 1976.

Call Sharon Lubitow (946.3367), Andi Evangelist (946.9340) to register.
