Butterfly Garden puts County Home
on Zoological Map

A new butterfly garden has been planted at the Wayne County Nursing Home and Rehab Center that will be included on the site map of the Butterfly Beltway project in the northeast United States.

Ryan Loysen, Conservation Education Coordinator of Seneca Park Zoo Society, and Tim Fowler teamed to plant the new butterfly garden on grounds adjacent to WCNH. Loysen gave a presentation to residents, staff and family members on the importance of planting butterfly gardens to help protect and conserve butterflies, which are important insect pollinators.

Loysen will return to the County Home September 14, to bring Monarch butterflies for the release portion of the two-visit program.

The project is sponsored by the Wayne County Nursing Home Garden Club and the Wayne County Nursing Home Foundation, in conjunction with the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester.
