Kudos to the Marion girls varsity basketball team for making it to the semifinals in Section 5. Playing in Class CC, #5 Marion lost Monday to #1 Avon, 50-38. Great season! March 7 is Bird and Arbor Day in California. The holiday celebrates pioneering plant breeder Luther Burbank (1849-1926) who developed many varieties familiar today. March 3 - Family Roller Skating Party, sponsored by the Marion PTA from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Elementary School gym. All children must be accompanied by an adult. MARCH 10, 1939 - The seniors voted on their trip this week and it was definitely decided to take the 8-day trip. The seniors will spend four days in Washington and three days in New York City. Eighteen students are going on the trip and they are all looking forward to it with anticipations of an educational trip and enjoying themselves at the same time. To keep homemade cookies from becoming stale, put them in a jar and place in a room full of children. In 1894, Marion had a population of 900 inhabitants. East Williamson Fire Dept. is having a roast beef dinner on March 18, 4:30 to 7, at their fire hall. Copyright
