Chorale concerts in Wolcott, Palmyra

The Canaltown Chorale will perform two concerts in March.

Sing His Praises will be performed this Saturday, March 18 at 7 in the Faith United Methodist Church at 12223 Oswego Street in Wolcott.

A second concert will be Sunday, March 19 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, on Main Street in Palmyra. Unlike past years when a major work has been the focal point of this concert, this year the Chorale will perform a collection of hymns from the ages.

Reverent Highest Heaven Adores is a Nesterian hymn of the Tang Dynasty (618-906 A.D.) and was arranged and translated by the parents of one of the chorale members.

Also to be presented as part of the concert will be All breathing life, sing and praise ye the Lord by J. S. Bach, The Road Not Taken by Randall Thompson and Psalm 150 by Cezar Franck. A suggested donation of $5 per person will be accepted at the door.

The Chorale will be under the direction of Jerry Hefley. Dick Crooks will accompany the group on piano and organ.

These concerts are made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council of the Arts Decentralization program, which is administered by Finger Lakes Arts Grants Services, Inc.
