Special exhibit at museum in Lyons A new exhibition opens this week at the Museum of Wayne County History, 21 Butternut Street, Lyons. 'Then & Now: How THINGS Have Changed' compares everyday objects from the past with their modern counterparts. Artifacts for this exhibition are on view throughout all three floors of the museum, creating a participatory scavenger hunt for visitors. For instance, on the upper level, in the children's bedroom, visitors are asked to identify how many 'new' toys are on view next to the 'old' ones. Visitors can draw comparisons and contrasts between old and new tools, kitchen gadgets, toiletry items, games, and other items. There is even a hands-on section that invites people to match objects side by side. 'This is a great opportunity for grandparents to visit the museum with their grandchildren,' said Wayne County Historical Society president Kathi Marshall. 'Both generations will be able to identify objects, and they will have fun finding things and spending quality time together.' Those who complete 'Then & Now' quiz sheets can enter a drawing for a copy of 'A Gathering of Memories,' a book filled with photographs of Wayne County from years gone by. The exhibition opens with refreshments and music (both old and new) at a members-only preview party on March 24, from 5-8 p.m. Those wishing to become members are also invited to attend this fun, free event. 'Then & Now: How THINGS Have Changed' will be on view through Saturday, June 24. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. Members are admitted free of charge. www.waynehistory.org or call 946.4943. Copyright
