Grants to protect freshwater resources

The Wayne County Water Quality Coordinating Committee, WQCC is currently administering a grant program for the protection of local freshwater resources.

Categories that are available for funding:

  • Septic systems: Up to $1000 reimbursement towards repairing private failing onsite waste water systems to low-income and median- income households where the system is within 200 feet of a priority waterbody. Verification of income status is required and all information is confidential.
  • Public septic system maintenance: Up to $2500 reimbursement towards repairing and updating public access onsite waste water systems where the system is within 200 feet of a priority waterbody. All projects must be located on publicly owned land.
  • Marine Pump-outs: Up to $2500 reimbursement to establish, repair or upgrade marine pump-out facilities on navigable waterways. Priority will be given to those waterbodies currently lacking such facilities. All facilities must be open to the public.

Grants will be awarded on a reimbursement basis only.
