Happenings My life-long friend Esther dropped by last week and brought me a sweet 'baby-tears' plant for my collection. Congratulations to the Lady Knights Varsity Basketball team on a very successful season. The Lady Knights beat Red Creek and Alexander before losing to No. 1 seed Avon in the semi-finals of Sectionals. Congratulations to Coach Tom Nortier for being named Wayne County Coach of the Year. Thanks girls, for giving us another winter of enjoyment, watching the games. (Contributed by Ron & Marcia Lonneville) 'I have enough money to last me the rest of my life - unless I buy something.' Happy 53rd anniversary wishes on March 7 to Chris and Ginny Christianson. John and Eileen Ballesty hosted a buffet open house on March 18, in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. On the actual holiday, they entertained family members with a corned-beef-and-cabbage dinner.
My snow drops are in bloom and the tulips and crocuses are coming up! Early History: Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children - last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, 'Don't throw the baby out with the water.' If you have school yearbooks you don't want to keep, we are missing some years in the collection at the Marion Museum. I'm happy to tell you that Vinny and Jeff have put up shelves at Jennie's House for historic materials. Washing your hands for the 20 seconds recommended by the International Food Safety Council means you should be able to sing Happy Birthday twice while soaping up.
