Handbell concert at The Ohmann

Finger Lakes Bronze will present Kaleidoscope in Bronze, a concert of handbell music, at the Ohmann Theatre in Lyons on Sunday April 2 at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens. This handbell music will take you through many musical genres from secular, to jazz, to patriotic.

This group performs on four and 1/2 octaves of Schulmerich handbells and four octaves of Malmark hand chimes.

Members of the group come from surrounding towns, including Canandaigua, Seneca Falls, Macedon, Palmyra, Dundee, Geneva, Lyons, and Waterloo. Comments from audiences who have heard this group have said, 'Bronze is a gift to the Finger Lakes Region' and 'Truly a gifted group of musicians.'

Founded in 2000 by Judith Treisback and Marjorie Fahrenholz, the Finger Lakes Bronze, Inc. is a not-for- profit community handbell organization. This group performs throughout the Finger Lakes area, and holds handbell and director workshops.

Treisback is a graduate of Crane School of Music at State University at Potsdam. Judith has taken master classes in handbells from Westminster Choir College. She has served on the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers Area II, and the National AGEHR Board of Directors. She began ringing and directing handbells in 1987 and started solo ringing in 1988.

She is director of handbells at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva, where she has three choirs.

Concerts will be presented at Willard Memorial Chapel in Auburn, on March 26, at 4 and at the United Methodist Church in Penn Yan on March 31 at 7:30 p.m.

This organization is supported in part with public funds from the NY State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, which is administered locally by Finger Lakes Arts Grants and Services, Inc.
