Missing Sodus Well, we are into spring now, but no one told the weather. You just get so tired of lugging around in big cumbersome jackets, and because the sun is shining we think, 'oh, it must be warm.' Don't be fooled. I went right back to using the big down jacket. Melanie Pike had some news to share with family and Shawna and Pete (Paige's daddy) got engaged on Friday the 17th! Looks like the wedding will be the end of October this year. So once they graduate from Brockport in May, then everything will be turned into plans. Congratulations to the happy families! More good news: Audrey Borger, someone I have known since the ninth grade, got a new job. It's hard work but it is very interesting. I am employed as a horticultural services worker. Everybody has to know their plants. They do a lot of award winning designs. While it is mostly residential accounts, we do some commercial and 'Just Born in Bethlehem' is one of their examples. It seems like everyone works like a team and there's no root balling trees, ( whew Gladys); no lawn mowing or plowing; it's garden care and installation. They put in ponds and irrigation systems but there's a team for that although we may have to lend a hand there too. Did you know? Al Dobbin: My great-grandparents came from Ireland in the 1840's. My mother was a Duffy and a Catholic. Dad's parents were Orangemen and Protestant. Begor-r-ah. My brother and I went back to Ireland and went on a ten day tour in southern Ireland. I couldn't drink a Guinness, My brother had to drink it for me. What kind of Irishman is that? Now, did you see Al Dobbin sportin' the green on St. Patty's Day? Fairville Fire Hall, Route 88. Every year I have the town bring a truck load of mulch and dump it into my driveway. Of course, it takes me forever to get it all into the gardens and by then, the weeds have gotten a nice head start. So this year, I have decided I'm going to work on one garden at a time. Now is a good time to peek at the yard from the inside looking out and imagine how you would like it to look for summertime. Have a theme if you can, but make it fun. Think of the calories you will be burning . Have a great week and enjoy each other while playing inside games, watching movies, reading together or if the weather warms up quite a bit, go for a nice spring walk. It's fun to see the spring flowers peeking up from under the leaves and snow. The robins look so confused. Have fun and send along yor recipes , birthdays and fun ideas about anything at all: Editor's Note: A computer glitch here at the office delayed the usual Friday posting of Melissa's column.
