History from the front pages

The public is invited to attend a free lecture on Lyons history that will be held at the Lyons Community Center, 9 Manhattan Street Extension, on May 15 at 1 p.m. The title of this Lyons Civic Club sponsored lecture is 'It Made the Front Page.' The presenter is author and Civic Club President Andrea Evangelist.

While compiling information to write a book on Lyons history that will be published later this year, Evangelist has been reading old issues of the Lyons Republican. She will share some of the more interesting articles, that range in topic from arrests, law suits, and local gossip to accidents, robberies and floods.
