Oscar has decided that today, while I write the column, I need his company. Some dogs will lay on the floor at your feet. Or held in your lap. Oscar is held, but not on the lap, across my chest. So, we'll see how well I can type with one hand.

Happy Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully, the weather will be nice for all of the picnics and get-togethers.

June 3: The 2nd annual display of a large number of Classic Motorcycles dating back as far as to 1914. This year we also will have a Hot Rod Display. Both are in the Center of Sodus Point.

Minutes from this unique display you also have the opportunity to see the Antique Boat Show sponsored by the Sodus Bay Yacht Club.

The 14th annual Antique & Wooden Boat Show takes place at the Sodus Bay Yacht Club on Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some 50 classic yachts, motor launches, dinghies, runabouts and canoes from the last 100 years of North American boating will be on view, along with activities for all family members. Parking and admission are free.

Other events taking place in Sodus Point June 3 include the 'Sale Around the Point' throughout the community sponsored by the Neighborhood Association of Sodus Point.

At the Sodus Free Library:

Bill Bolling presented us with many facts about identity theft, and provided several tips on how to avoid it during our Monday Books-Sandwiched-In. Just a reminder: if you would like to hear the topic covered in more depth, or if you were unable to attend the noontime program, Bill will return at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, for an encore presentation. Call 483.9292 or stop by the Library for more information.

Proposition 3 Passed: Thank you to the 340 Sodus residents who voted 'Yes' for Proposition 3, approving $56,000 for our Library. This funding is a vital part of our budget, and we are pleased that so many people recognize the Library's value.

New Book Club Starting As part of working toward their Girl Scout Silver Awards, Jessica Jonasse and Ana Abkarian are starting a book club for girls aged 12 to 14. We hope to read one book a month, with the first being 'Heir Apparent' by Vivan VandeVelde. Stop by the check-out desk to sign up.

fisherman At the Williamson Library:

Children's Specialist Michelle Byrne invites you to join her LAP-SIT Stories for children 18 months to 3 years on Mondays at 10:30. Children must be accompanied by an adult story partner. PRE-SCHOOL Stories for children 3 to 5 years are Mondays at 1:30 and FAMILY STORYTIME for everyone: Thursday evenings at 7.

Remember, libraries are closed Monday due to the Memorial Day Holiday, so get your books and movies early if you want them to keep the kids busy on their day off.

Seems like yesterday we were with the Scout groups marching in the Memorial Day parades in Sodus, then to the cemetery where Al Dobbin was one of the men who shot off the rifles. Kids ran for the shells from the guns. Girl Scouts put flowers on the graves of the Veterans. Whatever you do for Memorial Day, have a good time and, of course, remember why there is a Memorial Day and the men and women who gave their lives for us.

Have a great week and enjoy each other's Company. Take lots of pictures while at the events. They are priceless.
