Amy Casciani has raised $32,000 for lymphoma research at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. Her passion for lymphoma research started when her son Andrew was diagnosed at age 19 with Hodgkins lymphoma. He was taking classes at Monroe Community College. With this diagnosis, Andrew's life changed. He needed to stay close to home where he could be treated for this cancer and wasn't sure if he could handle a full course load at MCC.

He turned his energy and concern for his health into a project. He began taking classes at MCC and decided to build himself a go-cart. Using the skills he was learning in a welding class at MCC, Andrew began working in his garage to finish this project.

The family worried daily about Andrew and whether or not he was going to beat this cancer. In one year, Andrew completed his treatment and finished his go-cart. He is a survivor and is now finishing a degree at Buffalo State College. He makes an inspirational award to be given at each Turquoise Gala.
