Newark Players plan dissolution
By Sandra Marcano

The Newark Players theatre group started entertaining the community in the late 1950s. In 1962 the group incorporated; its members came from many towns in Wayne County and from other counties.

The group has been inactive since 1995. This week, the board met and voted on the dissolution of Newark Players, Inc. and agreed to disburse the money remaining in its bank account, more than $1000, to another community theatre group. This group will have the same focus and mission as the Newark Players.

Meeting Oct. 30 were Acting President Burt Ford, Secretary Barbara Russell, Treasurer Merchant Russell, and former officers Frank Russell, Shirley Ford, Patty Youngman and Trudy Hicks.

Members of record during the 1990s, and other interested former Newark Players, may attend a meeting on Monday, Nov. 13 at the ambulance headquarters on Frey Street, at 7 p.m. At that time, the board will announce the recipient of the money.

NAVA (ambulance headquarters) is just east of Newark Hospital; Frey Street can be accessed from North Main or West Pearl.

For directions or additional information, call Burt Ford, 331.2914.
