Folks don't seem to entertain as much as they did in the past. Let me know about your holiday festivities.

NOVEMBER 4 - Saturday - the Marion Boy Scouts will be making their annual FOOD DRIVE. Please place your bags of food donations on your door knob the night before as collections will begin at 9 a.m.

Early History - As houses had thatched roofs or thick straw, piled high, with no wood underneath, there was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could really mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence.

NOW is time to consider the gifts at the Marion Museum for some of the folks on your Christmas list. Early pictures of downtown Marion, Historic Christmas balls, Marion Coverlets.

November 7 - High School Band Concert at 7 p.m.

November 9 - Superintendent's Day - NO SCHOOL

November 10 - NO SCHOOL; Veterans Day is November 11.

November 10-14 - Earth Shuttle trip to Florida.

History: Thomas Jefferson brought the first waffle iron to the United States from France. It was 100 years later when the waffle gained popularity and was sold by street food venders in Philadelphia and New York. Belgium waffles were first introduced at the New York World's Fair in 1964.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you can't live long enough to make them all yourself.
