Two resign from Arcadia posts
By Donna Comella

When Town of Arcadia officials met Tuesday, they took no action on filling two vacancies.

The Board has accepted the resignations of both Town Justice Donald Fletcher and 26-year incumbent Councilman Gary Grant.

Retired Newark High Principal Grant is on an extended sailing trip with his wife, Annette, aboard their appropriately-named 'Sabbatical.' The vacancy will no doubt be filled next month by one of Grant's fellow Republicans. The person named to the post will have to run for election in 2007. The empty justice seat will also be up for election in 2007.

Art Williams is currently the only seated Town Justice. After a public hearing last week, the Board adopted next year's budget of almost $2.5 million. The tax rates will go down because of the recent increase in assessment.

Salaries were set as follows: Supervisor, $19,150; Four Town Council members, $4275 each (equaling $17,100); Town Clerk, $30,100; Receiver of Taxes, $6,000; Highway Superintendent, $53,150.
