Stan May retires from blood drives November 18, longtime American Red Cross Stan May manned his last Blood Drive registration table. After 17 years, 135 blood drives and over 1300 volunteer hours, he is retiring. May has been responsible for the scheduling and recruitment of blood drive canteen and registration volunteers, the recruitment of blood donors, and the organization of the drive itself. 'Stan has been a fixture at the Newark blood drives for many years, you just can't replace that type of commitment,' said Red Cross Chapter Director James Love. May will continue to be a blood drive advisor and consultant. 'Stan has been an integral part of the Chapter, and he'll continue to be a great resource,' said Chapter Blood Drive Coordinator Abbey Nedvesky. As a token of their appreciation, the Wayne County Chapter and the NYPENN Blood Region presented him with two framed appreciation certificates and a Red Cross denim shirt for his years of volunteer service.
