Missing Sodus It has been a busy time with moving. (Always make sure if your contractor says he will get the permit that he does it. I have learned a lot about joists, supporting beams, and distances between them. I was trusting and found out that my contractor, sweet as he was, is infamous for not getting permits.) Fall is here and the leaves are getting so pretty. We have found a fun thing to do is pick up a hot chocolate and sit peacefully just watching the water. The beach was busy with people getting in the last minute fun before the cold weather gets here. Mark your calendars: Tuesday, October 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the Sodus Chamber is joining with Blossom View Nursing Home for some safe (and free) Halloween Fun. Kids 12 and under, dressed in costume (and accompanied by an adult), are invited to Blossom View Nursing Home on Maple Ave. They will be warm, safe, and dry, plus they will enjoy games, cookies, and, of course, candy. The residents of Blossom View will be getting ready for this with decorating, stuffing candy bags and getting their costumes ready. Saturday, Oct. 14 - The East Williamson Fire Dept. will hold its Fall Roast Beef Dinner from 4:30-7 at the East Williamson Fire Hall, East Townline Road. Menu is Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, corn, coleslaw, applesauce, rolls and dessert for $7 (adults), $3.50 (kids under 12) and free to kids under 5. Take out or dine in. If you like pumpkin ice cream ask for it at the stands. Abbott's has it now and it is wonderful. We had a waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles. (Fattening, I'm sure, but you only get it during the fall season.) McDonald's has had the pumpkin milkshakes, so watch for those as well. Halloween movies: Top Picks include Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Check the libraries to see if they have these available. There are others such a Veggie Tales and Ruby and her cute little brother, Max. Also, now is a great time to pick up some Halloween stories to read to the kids and they to you. And you can now get a gingerbread Halloween house like the Christmas houses to put together with the family. Country Craft Market & Cafe is November 18, from 10 to 3 at the Sodus Point United Methodist Church. Craft items for sale and lunch available.
