Arcadia taxes will go down next year
By Donna Comella

The Town of Arcadia will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, November 6 at 7:30 to hear any comment regarding the proposed 2007 budget. Although the tentative spending plan is up from $2.3 million to almost $2.5 million, the tax rates will go down because of the recent increase in assessment.

If the budget passes, Arcadia residents who live outside the Village of Newark will pay $3.58 per $1,000 of assessed value and Village residents will pay $1.78 per $1000. According to Town records, that's down from $4.64 and $2.13 respectively.

Salaries to be voted on are set as follows: Supervisor, $19,150 Four Town Council members, $4275 each (equaling $17,100) Town Clerk, $30,100 Receiver of Taxes, $6,000 Highway Superintendent, $53,150 The November 6 hearing will be held in the second floor courtroom of the Municipal Building.
