Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

Kind of a chilly week... reminds you of fall a little bit. We went out to see Diane Phillips and had a nice visit, as well as a tea party. Got the college kids all moved back into the dorms at college and now is the time when we find out (even though it seemed we packed the whole house) someone forgot to pack something. And since regular school starts soon, the school clothes and supplies for the younger kids are next on the agenda if you haven't done it yet. Summer has been fun, but it will be nice to get back into the usual routine. Somehow going to bed at l and getting up at 9 just isn't really working. Can't even imagine getting up at 5:30 again!

The Hoopers are back home in Florida, just in time for the chilly weather and for the kids to start school again. It was nice to see them all.

Speaking of being back home, I believe Jake Spencer is back home as well. Instead of going south as the Hoopers did, he came back up north.

Mark your calendar: ( doesn't seem possible it's September already! )

Alasa Farms/Cracker Box Palace at 6450 Shaker Rd., Alton

lake This Sunday's Concert at Sodus Point Lighthouse Museum features The Rythm Aces Big Band. Concert begins at 2. Bring a chair or blanket. Refreshments available.

I don't know why it is that, even though I plan to move in the summer, I always end up moving in October or November. We aren't moving far - just up the street, but still. Just in time to get the fall things out and put a pretty mum on the stoop. It's fun to decorate for the season.

If you have set out houseplants on the porch or deck bring them in soon so they can get used to the different light. This way they have a chance to adjust before the light changes outdoors. I really hate to do it. They look so happy outside.

Enjoy your week. Have fun the last weekend of summer vacation and try to practice getting to bed earlier so it won't be such a shock getting up at the crack of dawn again.

Do you have some fall recipes you'd like to share? Some fun ways you welcome fall's arrival? Or any really good books you'd like to share? Please write to me at mgoodcooke@yahoo.com

I look forward to hearing from you.
