Girl Scout registration at area schools Most girls join a local group for fun and friendship, but they also are building courage, confidence and character when they join the Girl Scouts. Girls find a safe place to grow and share new experiences, learn to relate to others, develop values, contribute to society. While girls may register any time of the year, many registration events are scheduled for September. Girls everywhere, ages 5 to 17, can be part of the fun and excitement. And, girls dont have to join a group to reap the benefits Girl Scouting has to offer. Girls may be Juliettes, or register individually and do activities and earn recognitions on their own, with friends or family. They may attend Girl Scout events in their communities, across country or across the world. Juliettes, are named after Girl Scoutings founder, Juliette Gordon Low. Girl Scouts is looking for women and men to share just a few hours to help girls learn new skills while having fun. There are several short-term positions available that can use skills you already have and/or you can use one of our ready-made boxes of materials like managing a check book, making herbal cosmetics, engaging in sports and fitness activities, and studying the plants around us. Local coordinators are needed to help organize troops in a given school or community. This entails maintaining records and getting the word out about registration opportunities. Girl Scouting helps cultivate values, social conscience and self-esteem in young girls, while teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. Seven Lakes Council serves 10,000 girls in 13 counties and is a United Way agency. Questions: Call 315.539.5085. Register:
