Lyons Club seeks members In September, members will be signed up to join the Lyons Civic Club at the Lyons Farmers Market. Membership forms are available by calling Sharon Lubitow (946.3367) or by e-mailing Membership runs from January 1 - December 31, but those who join now as new members receive membership for 2007 and receive the remainder of 2006 free. The Club offers three levels of membership: Household Membership at $10, Patron Membership at $25 and Corporate Memberships at $50. Members will receive invitations to special events, a quarterly newsletter, and the satisfaction of contributing to the quality of life in Lyons. Funds raised during the campaign will be used to support the club's educational programs and dramatic presentations. This year, the club will offer monthly lectures on Lyons history, a literary lecture series, a dramatic production of Lyons history that will be held at the Lyons Rural Cemetery on September 15, and a Lyons history club for students in grades 4-5 and 6-7. The club is also publishing a book on Lyons history that will be for sale in October, and will celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Incorporation of the Village of Lyons by holding a Dinner Dance and silent auction on October 14, at the Lyons VFW. The Lyons Civic Club was originally formed in 1902 and re-established and incorporated in 2005 as an educational and charitable 501(c)3 organization that has a cultural focus and provides projects and programming for students and adults in Lyons and Wayne County.
