5K race at Apple Shed Saturday

The Apple Shed in Newark is hosting the Head, Heart, Hands & Health 5K on Saturday, September 9, to benefit 4-H Club. Enjoy the start of fall apple harvest while running or walking through the orchards and woods around the farm.

The 3.1 mile run/walk through the fruit farm begins at 8:30 a.m., with a free kids race for children 8 & under to start around 9 a.m. T-shirts will be awarded to the first 50 participants and 4-H activities will take place after the race.

Age divisions for men and women include: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55- 64, 64-79 and 80+. The first place finisher in each age division will receive a special gift from The Apple Shed. Overall male and female 1st-5th place finishers will be awarded cash or prizes.

The cost to enter is $12 if pre-registered by September 8 and $15 on race day. Family entries (parent(s) and children) are $25. All proceeds will benefit Wayne County 4-H through Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County. For more information or to register, please visit
