New website for Newark schools The Newark School District has a new website. Once its completed, it will be similar to the old one in terms of content. But the new site is being designed to make it not only much easier to quickly access information, but to allow for greater ease of use in terms of reading and posting it. The change in the website will also allow administrators and teachers the ability to easily post information. The site features a bi-weekly newsletter from Superintendent Robert Christmann. In time, it will eventually also feature not only video clips from events, but live streaming from them and/or pod casts. While it is still a work in progress, its designers are excited about the prospect of making the website even more user-friendly and compelling. They hope that eventually, greater use of the technology that exists can be utilized to the fullest extent, making it an even more effective, up-to-the minute vehicle for communication. Kathleen Tanea, high school business teacher and coordinator of technology staff development, and Cheryl Van Harken, coordinator of technology support service, have been extensively involved in the redesign of the website and training staff members to post information has begun. Tedd VanDuyne, who teaches eighth grade Social Studies at the middle school and has functioned as webmaster of the old site for years, has been helping ease the transition.
