Happenings Roast Beef Supper at Marion American Legion Home September 15 (today). What a great Festival Weekend. Other names to add to the list of 'willing workers' are Bill DeWandel, Gordon Adriaansen, Gordon and Nancy VanHall, Eleanor Schoonerman, Arnie Dickerson, Mark Haskins and Jeff and Vinnie from our town's help. I appreciate the help and assistance in preparation for the Fall Festival. Though 'Jennie's House' was obscured by play equipment, people did find the future home of Marion's Museum and offered comments and suggestions which we will consider in future plans. The winner of the three Christmas bells at the museum raffle was Debbie Johnson. Congratulations! Videos were shown including the one taken at the 1983 Heritage Festival - a nice remembrance. My cousin Doris & husband Ed Krocke traveled from Newark to say, Hello! The DeNeef family paid a visit and were surprised to see the collection of barbed-wire samples they collected during their school years. Richards Chapter Order of the Eastern Star will serve a home-style turkey dinner at the Marion Masonic Temple on September 29. Serving will start at 4:30 to 6:30. The menu consists of roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, squash, cole slaw cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. Take-outs will be available. 'Busy people make mistakes, but they never make the big mistake of doing nothing.' September 11, 1908: Dr. David Richards fell from the roof of his house to the ground, 36 feet, last Friday and escaped apparently without serious injury. 'This is the beginning of the season for mast, the term for nuts, such as beechnuts & walnuts, that fall to the ground and are then harvested.' (Interesting word - look it up!) Copyright
