Reserve copies of Lyons book Copies of the book A Look At Lyons: History and Images of Lyons, New York can be reserved by contacting the Lyons Civic Club, Inc. at 946.3367. The Lyons National Bank is the corporate sponsor of the commemorative book that Andrea T. Evangelist, president of the Lyons Civic Club compiled to help celebrate the 175 year anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Lyons. The Robert G. Boehmler Community Foundation, Inc. also generously contributed toward the book's publication. This 264-page, soft-covered, indexed 8 x 11 publication contains more than 300 captioned pictures that reflect the history of Lyons. Chapters in the book include Early History and Government of Lyons, Medical Care, Transportation, The Canal, Alloway, Fire Department, Organizations, Businesses, Churches, Schools, Library, Entertainment, Taverns and Hotels, Memories, and Trivia. It contains facts for the history buffs and students, information that can either foster or settle coffee shop disputes, names that will spark slowing memories, and story-telling images that can be enjoyed by those who just want to look at the pictures. Books are being sold for $25 a copy. The profits from book sales will go to fund future Civic Club publications and be used for the betterment of Lyons and to further the club's mission to provide educational and cultural projects and programming for students and adults in Lyons. The book will be available for purchase at the Lyons National Bank, Dobbins Drug Store and the Sullivan Insurance Agency by the end of October.
