Wayne ARC run, walk, fun run

Helen's Run, Ashley's Walk and Tomorrow's Promise Fun Run are planned for September 30, beginning at Roosevelt Children's Center.

Helen Addona was a respected teacher for the Roosevelt Children's Center for 12 years. She was also avid runner and racer and was the founder and co-director of this event in 2000. Her effect on all those she came into contact with - both young and old - was profound and inspiring. Entry is $l2, (postmarked by 9/25), $15 day of the Race. Register at 9, races and walks start at 10 a.m.

Course accurately wheeled 5k (5000 meter) course. All age divisions welcome, including 80 & older.

USATF certified - code NY01042AM.

To Ashley Henkel, spina bifida was neither a disability nor a barrier. In her 13 short years of life, she positively impacted this world in ways many of us do not in an entire lifetime. Throughout her schooling at both the Roosevelt Children's Center and the Newark School District, Ashley continually touched her teachers, her peers and all who met her with her warmth, her smile and her loving, compassionate ways. basis of Ashley's existence.

Entry is $12 Pre-reg. (Postmarked by 9/25) $15 Day of Walk. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Walk begins at 10 a.m. Course accurately wheeled 3.1 mile (5k) course. Awards to all participants.

Tomorrow's Promise Fun Run is for the children - a 400 meter race in which every participant wins. Hoping to inspire a new generation of runners, each child's efforts will be recognized with a T-shirt and an award.

Entry is $8, $10 day of the event. Run time is 9:30 a.m. and the course is 400 meters. Awards to all participants. Supervised play & refreshments for all children in the RCC gym following the fun run through 11 a.m.

Parking is available at Roosevelt Children's Center and Woodhill. Refreshments are free at finish. Water on course and at finish. T-shirts to first 25 Fun Run entrants and to first 100 Run/Walk entrants. Door prizes, 5k run awards, walk & fun run acknowledgments at 11 a.m. ceremony.
